The Best Aphrodisiacs To Light The Fire

Aphrodisiacs have been around for centuries. They are substances believed to make sex more attainable or more pleasurable. Aphrodisiacs are meant to entice a person into passion.

We’ve all heard the stories of women who went crazy when they smelled a cologne packed with pheromones! Though many believe that is simply an urban myth, the power of aphrodisiacs can be very real. Over time some have been proven to be ineffective, but others are still in the running for the best sexual pick-me-up you could put on a plate.

Chocolate. Bits of chocolate have chemicals in them that light up the pleasure centers of the brain. It makes you feel good, and in turn, makes you more inclined to get cozy with your partner.

Oysters. These were discovered to be an aphrodisiac in Roman times, and the trend has continued through the ages. Some say it is simply because of the shape of the oysters, which can look quite like a woman’s vagina. Oysters are high in zinc, which is a necessary part of sperm production, and they also raise testosterone levels.

Bananas. The shape of a banana certainly reminds you of something sensual, doesn’t it? But there is more to this yellow delight than meets the eye. The banana is chock-full of vitamins necessary for hormone production…which means a banana a day might keep the heat turned up!

Coffee. Rich, dark coffee stimulates more than your mind. The key is to partake of it in small amounts – larger amounts decrease the effects. Over the counter coffee (or even the rich goodness you can find at Starbucks!) is not potent enough. Search health food stores for the most potent coffee you can find, and serve it in tiny cups with a sexy dollop of cream on top.

Figs. Fresh figs are a delight to all the senses. Eating them with your fingers is essential. The shape, color and texture of the figs are all appealing to the more baser instincts, and can lead to sexual thoughts with very little urging. Open them up in front of your lover and watch his libido rise!

Pineapple. It’s rich in vitamins, and has been used as a homeopathic remedy for impotence. Eating pineapple has also been known to sweeten the flavor of a man’s semen – a good reason to keep lots of pineapple around!

Pomegranate. The juice is rich and colorful, the taste is sweeter than sweet, and in Chinese culture the seeds were believed to enhance fertility. Simply holding a pomegranate in your hand is a heady experience.

Vanilla. The smooth flavor of vanilla is believed to increase lust, and the scent of the vanilla bean is known for being a deep, luxurious, rich experience. The scent of vanilla in the bedroom also induces a sense of calm, so that when you do climb into bed with your lover, romance will ensue.

  1. Are pheromones and aphrodisiacs the same? Or, aphrodisiacs are the natural form and pheromones are the chemical ones? Do they both provide the same effectiveness? I have seen TV programs where they vouch for the effectiveness of perfumes containing pheromones in them. But I have no clue about the authenticity of their claims!
